Over on the Crydev forums, member oldschool.Dave posted up a video of Aliens vs Marine, a remake project he’s building using CryEngine 3.

Specifically, AvM is a remake of the Marine portion of Rebellion’s 1999 release Aliens versus Predator. oldschool.Dave—or just Dave as we’ll call him—notes that the Predator won’t be in his remake, as “I don’t like this character very much”.

While originally Aliens vs Marine started as a MOD, Dave posted an update that the game will now be a free-standing release using CryEngine 3 Free SDK. While AvM is still in early alpha stage, Dave notes that he’s finishing the Derelict level, and he’s started work on AI, rigging, and animation.

Dave also hopes to have a new video showing actual enemy combat in Aliens vs Marine early next year. Until then, here’s his first video, showcasing some of what the game will feature.
