As well as improved destruction, graphics, and physics, World of Tanks is also getting some new game modes later this year.

The first new mode is Fortifications, these will be given to all Clans in the game. A Clan will need a certain number of players before it is granted a Fortification, but once it has one it can be upgraded by purchasing new buildings that will offer bonuses, such as increased credits. These new hubs will require resources to improve, a new currency being added to the game that Clans must fight other Clans to obtain. Fortifications is a completely separate mode to the Global Map.

Wargaming also revealed that Historical Battle mode will finally be added to the game with the 9.0 update. The major issue preventing this mode from becoming a reality was the difference between the many tanks available in the game. The solution was to introduce new stats for each vehicle—this is only for this mode, in other game modes the stats will be as normal.

You can find a detailed look at each of these modes in the video above.
