Doom

Classic maps from the original Doom are hidden within levels of the series’ 2016 reboot, allowing players to experience the shooter’s humble beginnings like never before.

In a recent IGN video, id Software executive producer Marty Stratton revealed the existence of secret levers within every mission in the upcoming Doom game. As shown in the video below, pulling the lever allows players to access a small portion of a map from Doom or Doom II: Hell on Earth. While some of these will only be a single room in the campaign, after unlocking the cut-down version, players can access the entire map associated with it from the menu.

“This moment right here I love,” said Stratton as he exited the classic map back into the new version. “This is such a good example of 25 years of history right here. It was all in our mind before, and now we get to put it in pixels on the screen.”

Doom releases on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC on May 13th.
