Square Enix has released a new video for Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn which contains 12 minutes of gameplay footage.

The voice-over is in Japanese, but the video offers an extended look at character creation, environments, combat, cutscenes, and inventory management. The game’s open beta test is set to get under way on August 17, with previous beta testers allowed to play on August 16.

Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn will release for PC and PlayStation 3 on August 27.
