Amazon Instant Video Comes to PS3

Posted on April 3, 2012 AT 01:59pm

THE BUZZ: If you’ve turned your PS3 on today, you might have noticed a new option—an official app for Amazon’s Instant Video service.

EGM’s TAKE: Well, this is something of a surprise—the official app just suddenly appeared today, pretty much without notice or warning.

What is Amazon Instant Video? It’s an included service that you get when you subscribe to Amazon Prime, Amazon’s $79 a year subscription for getting free 2-day shipping. Obviously, now shipping isn’t the only thing you get, as Amazon Instant Video brings Prime subscribers more than 17,000 streaming video options for no additional cost, along with an even larger library of commercial-free movies and TV shows for rent.

So, if you’re a subscriber to Amazon Prime and a PS3 owner, you’ve now got another option for watching the Amazon Instant Video offerings.
