THE BUZZ: Sony has announced that a new version of Gran Turismo 5 is coming out later this month. According to the Playstation Blog the game is being billed as Gran Turismo 5 XL, and will include all the content of the original game, all of the features and updates that have been patched into the game up to Spec 2.0, and a voucher to download the Racing Car Pack, Car Pack 2, Course Pack, Racing Gear Pack, and the Paint Pack. Sony says this XL package will be released January 17, and come with a price tag of $39.99.
EGM’s TAKE: While “game of the year” editions, with bundled DLC, and lower price tags, come out all the time, we have to wonder if Sony may have overlooked that not all games take five years to make. Any diehard Gran Turismo fan that was twiddling his thumbs waiting for its eventual release, undoubtably picked it up on launch day, and have grabbed all the updates. Now, less than two months since Spec 2.0 hit, a cheaper, feature packed version is coming out. That may ruffle someone’s feathers. On the other hand, if you were slow to go pick up Gran Turismo 5, this is a great opportunity to jump into this sensational game feet first.
