THE BUZZ: The big Tony Hawk announcement at this year’s Spike TV Video Game Awards is one we can actually appreciate. Instead of coming up with some new kind of skateboarding controller that interfaces with your iPAD and 3D TV, Activision dialed it down a bit and instead revealed an HD remake of the original Tony Hawk: Pro Skater.

Tony Hawk Pro Skater HD looks to be offering the best levels from the first two Hawk games,  complete with challenges all the challenges we’ve always loved. System specifics haven’t been announced, but look for it to arrive digitally sometime in 2012.

EGM’s TAKE: These are the Tony Hawk games we’ve always loved. The series went steadily downhill this generation, so we have no trouble going back to its roots. We just hope they give us a few new bits to hang our helmets on.

Marc somehow survived E3. The crowds were big, the games were loud and somehow he managed to get a sunburn on the top of his big, bald melon. Yet, despite all of this, he had a blast, seeing people he only sees once a year, playing all of the new games, and staying up way past his bedtime. Next year he might even have a beer.
