THE BUZZ: Dynasty Warrior Next is getting ready to swing, slash, and basically flail around on the Sony Vita come launch day. Game Informer is reporting that the newest entry in the historical combat game will bring with it new features that take advantage of the Vita, with players being able to use the back touchpad and motion controls to kill the dozens of faceless soldiers that stand in their way. The Sony Vita and Dynasty Warriors Next are set to hit store shelves on February 22.

EGM’s TAKE: Where would a console be without the amazingly intricate combat, and deep story of a Dynasty Warrior entry? Don’t answer that. As a franchise, Dynasty Warriors has never been deep, beautiful, or much fun, but it is a game and that has to count for something. Swinging our Vitas around doesn’t sound like much fun and we know we are bound to see some poorly contrived reasons to rub our Vitas early on, but we also hope this is just a stepping stone for better implementation in the future.
