Directors are considering closing down in order to avoid any more significant losses after GAME failed to secure stock for Mario Party 9, and more importantly Mass Effect 3.
A source “close to the situation” told The Express: “There is a real risk that GAME’s directors will pull the plug because they can’t be sure that the company can survive through the next trading season, and then insolvency becomes inevitable.”
“They are in discussions with their legal advisers about whether to shut up shop rather than rack up more losses,” the source added.
EGM’s TAKE: GAME is in dire straights at the moment. Missing out on Mass Effect 3 has dealt a major blow to the company as a whole. If it misses out on another major release that could easily prove to the straw that broke the camel’s back, and force the directors’ hands.
