THE BUZZ: Double Fine, creators of Iron Brigade (formally Trenched), are getting ready to release downloadable content this Wednesday called Rise of the Martian Bear. For 400 Microsoft Points players will gain access to four new maps, a new boss to battle, and new weapons. It’s being reported that two of the four maps can also be accessed in Survival Mode. Because of this new DLC, Double Fine is said to be patching Iron Brigade to ensure compatibility between players that purchase the new content and those that don’t. Besides the compatibility fix, through this free patch players will now be allowed to use both arms in gameplay as opposed to simply being stuck with just the right arm.

EGM’s TAKE: If there was one thing that bothered us about Trenched — sorry, Iron Brigade — is that there wasn’t more of it. Once the game was finished we were left with awesome mechanical monstrosities with very little to do. Rise of the Martian Bear also gets points for good timing. Had this been released during the holiday rush, it would have gotten lost in the sauce like so many other XBLA games.
