Microsoft Issues Comment On YouPorn Xbox Live Promotion

Posted on October 2, 2012 AT 01:25pm

With the incoming addition of Internet Explorer to Xbox Live, pornography website “YouPorn” is promoting the ability for Xbox 360 owners to be “a few simple controller clicks away” from “hot free porn.” Yikes.

As YouPorn updated on their blog, gamers can now get their face-full of porn quite easily:

Gamers and free porn lovers around the world rejoice! Thanks at long last to the introduction of Internet Explorer for XBox, you can now tap in to and stream all your favorite free YouPorn videos right from your [Xbox]. Whether you’re pwning n00bs in CoD: Modern Warfare 3, annihilating Bullymong in Borderlands 2, or taking the Saints deep in Madden NFL 13, you’re never more than a few simple controller clicks away from being face deep in hot free porn.

Technically, the addition of Internet Explorer lets users view a wide variety of adult content, most of which is unrestricted. However, YouPorn, which operates with over 16 million views each month, can cause a bit of a headache for Microsoft if they continue to aggressively sell themselves as premiere Xbox Live content.

Microsoft issued a statement to Kotaku about the matter, stating that it’s ultimately up to parental guidance to protect young children from certain adult content:

To be clear, we are adding Internet Explorer to Xbox Live, not specific adult content providers like YouPorn or any other specific website content. Additionally, we give members and parents the option to turn this feature on or off for their accounts. Access to Internet Explorer for all Child accounts is blocked by default.

Pornographic content has actually been available on Xbox Live for quite a long while—Netflix hosts several shows that feature nudity, adult themes, and sexual content.
That’s likely one of the main reasons why the company implemented the “Netflix for Kids” option not too long, which automatically filters out offending TV shows, specials, and movies in order to provide safer browsing options.
