Warner Bros. has released a new trailer for Monolith’s Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor that takes a look at how to obtain powerful magic runes and how they affect Talion’s weapons.

To obtain a rune players must defeat a captain in battle. By exposing the captain’s weakness you can influence the type of rune you will receive. However, to get the most powerful runes in the game you will need to issue a death threat to an Elite Warchief, after this the Warchief will come after Talion with an armed guard. Defeat the Warchief and his guards to get an elite rune.

To help you out Warner Bros. is offering a number of pre-order bonus runes. Pre-order through Amazon to get the Deadly Archer Rune, which increases the damage of ranged headshots. Pre-ordering at Best Buy will unlock the Flame of Arnor Rune, which allows Talion to ignite his blade and increase his potential combo count. GameStop is offering the Captain of the Watch skin and the Hidden Blade Rune, increasing the damage of stealth attacks. Finally, pre-ordering through Steam nets you the Orc Slayer Rune, which increases the damage of special attacks.

Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor will be available from October 7 on PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
