THE BUZZ: DICE has launched its all new blog series titled “Inside DICE” where fans will get, “candid and personal reflections directly from the people that worked on Battlefield 3.” According to DICE, the idea of having a blog to communicate with its fans was one the developers were interested in for a long time. Readers can expect to get detailed information about game updates and design decisions, along with hearing from the team’s programmers and producers as well.
General Manager Karl Magnus Troedsson revealed that DICE is putting the final pieces together on a presentation they’re working on for next week’s Game Developer’s Conference. Troedsson talked a bit about Battlefield’s big update, addmitting the team missed their February target date and have rescheduled for a Spring slot, although that’s all he’d say on the topic of release dates.
Troedsson also reassured this type of cis will be common ground going forward and fans can expect explanations behind the rationale of decisions.
EGM’s TAKE: We’re far to weary to believe any developer when they talk about being candid with their fans, but from what we gather on their first blog entry, DICE seems to be on the right track. There is nothing better to a gamer than an honest developer. Hopefully this experiment works well for them and a trend begins in the industry.
