New York Comic-Con Trailer Shows More of Strider’s World, Gameplay Elements

Posted on October 8, 2013 AT 01:52pm

In honor of the launch of New York Comic-Con 2013, Capcom has let loose upon the world a new trailer showing off more of their return to the beloved Strider franchise.

In the trailer—which you can conveniently see below—we get a deeper look at the game’s world, including some areas that I’m pretty confident haven’t been shown off previously. Opposed to the more linear style of the original arcade game, this new Strider will have more open-world, exploration-based stages closer resembling the original NES release. How exactly all of the worlds in this latest Strider connect together—and how expansive the full area of the game will be in total—has yet to fully be revealed.

(There’s also a few nods to elements from the older Strider games in this trailer that I’m sure longtime fans will pick up on.)

If you’re curious about Strider and haven’t done so yet, head over and check out my recent hands-on report on the game. There’s always some hesitation in having faith in a relaunch or reboot of a popular franchise when it’s being handled by a different team and being done in a different era, but from what (admittedly little) I got to play of the game, I’m having more confidence that Strider will be of a similar quality level as another similar Capcom project, 2008′s Bionic Commando Rearmed.
