Rebellion has released a new developer diary for Sniper Elite 3 that offers a first look at the game’s competitive and co-op multiplayer.
In the game’s multiplayer players will be encouraged to switch spots between kills by a score multiplier that will increase with each kill after relocating. Players will also have a limited supply of ammo in multiplayer—again to encourage them to move and look for more. Without these encouragements multiplayer would be an incredibly boring affair.
When it comes to co-op, players will be encouraged to work together to take down enemies, and not just to overwhelm them with twice the firepower. An example given was the weak spot on a tank, which is usually found at the back. To access it one player must draw the tanks fire while his/her partner moves round to get a clear shot at the weak spot.
Finally, players will be able to take any customized weapon from the game’s single player into multiplayer, but if they are killed an enemy can pick up that powerful weapon and use it against you. Also XP earned in multiplayer can be used to unlock upgrades for guns that will carry back over to single player.
Sniper Elite 3 is set to launch July 1 for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. A PC release, which is being self-published by Rebellion, is due June 27.
