This Week in Gaming

THE BUZZ: This week in gaming sees us walking in the footsteps of a god, a very angry god. The world gets to see if Snake can hide in 3D space, and Alan Wake’s twisted nightmare becomes a reality. The big release this week is Sony’s sophomore attempt at capturing the handheld market with the PS Vita. Last time around they had just a Nintendo DS to contend with, but now that every phone under the sun can at least play Angry Birds Sony will have to up the ante if they want to stay relevant. The Vita won’t be alone, Ryu Hayabusa will be debuting on the handheld ready to cut everyone to ribbons at a moments notice.

Asura’s Wrath (PS3, Xbox 360) – February 21st

Metal Gear Solid: Snake Eater 3D (3DS) – February 21st

Pro Evolution Soccer 2012 3D (3DS) – February 21st

Syndicate (PS3, Xbox 360, PC) – February 21st

SSX Demo (PS3, Xbox 360) – February 21st

Army Corps of Hell (PSV) – February 22nd

Asphalt Injection (PSV) – February 22nd

Alan Wake’s American Nightmare (XBLA) – February 22nd

Dynasty Warriors Next (PSV) – February 22nd

Ninja Gaiden Sigma Plus (PSV) – February 22nd

Playstation Vita (System) – February 22nd

Ridge Racer (PSV) – February 22nd

Shinobido 2: Revenge of Zen (PSV) – February 22nd

Touch My Katamari (PSV) – February 22nd

Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 (PSV) – February 22nd

Virtua Tennis 4: World Tour Edition (PSV) – February 22nd

EGM’s TAKE: The PS Vita sure is launching with a lot of games. With nothing said of the quality of some of these games Sony has done a great job not mimicking the mistakes of the competition. We stare and yawn at Dynasty Warriors Next, and while we won’t go so far as to say Ridge Racer is a creatively bankrupt franchise, the game has lived off of nostalgia alone for far too long. We are excited for everyone to get their hands on the SSX demo this week but are even more excited to see the classic game Syndicate rebooted for modern times.
