Watch one hour of The Evil Within gameplay

Posted on August 18, 2014 AT 04:31am

Bethesda has released a one-hour gameplay demo of Shinji Mikami and Tango Gameworks’ upcoming survival horror title The Evil Within.

The video shows Bethesda’s VP of PR and marketing Pete Hines playing through part of the game’s ninth chapter, “The Cruelest Intentions,” on PlayStation 4, offering a look at how the story progresses, combat, puzzle solving, and more.

The game was originally set to launch this month, but was pushed back to October by Bethesda to allow Tango Gameworks “additional time to further balance and refine the game.”

Last week, Bethesda announced that the game would be getting a season pass for $19.99, offering access to three add-ons. The first sees players take control of The Keeper (a.k.a. Boxman) in a “sadistic collection of mission-based maps.” While the second and third packs are more story-driven, and place players in the shoes of Sebastian Castellanos’ partner Juli Kidman in a two-part story.

The Evil Within is set to launch October 14 in North America and October 17 in Europe for PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC.
