Star Wars Battlefront

New content coming in Star Wars Battlefront II‘s The Last Jedi seasonal event has seemingly been leaked ahead of the event’s launch, given fans a peak at what’s in store for the game’s celebration of the upcoming film.

The Last Jedi event will have players side with either the Resistance or the First Order, determining which challenges they are presented with over the course of the four-week event, as well as what rewards they earn. The two new heroes dropping for the event are Finn from the Resistance and Captain Phasma from the First Order, and either hero can be purchased with credits regardless of which Faction a player aligned with. Completing challenges for your Faction will reward Star Card Booster crates, but an Epic Star Card- exclusive to a Faction’s respective hero- can be earned by completing all of a Faction’s challenges, along with an Epic Booster crate for whichever Faction completed the most by the end of the event.

If you’re unsure on which side you want to make your stand, this data-mined gameplay of the Captain Phasma hero may sway you. The character in the footage isn’t the final design that is expected in the DLC, as it is missing her cape and a few other details, but the footage gives us a good idea of how she’ll play, exhibiting her selection of unique abilities.

Her hero abilities seem to include a cluster grenade launcher, a plantable Laser Gate that blocks incoming projectiles and hurts enemies in its area, and a Healing Well that can be placed in an area to heal Phasma and her teammates with bolts of electricity (somehow). The abilities in the video are being tested out on bots in one of the game’s Arcade missions, so the abilities’ effectiveness will likely differ against real players, but the footage allows us to at least start planning our Phasma strategies.

Also shown off in the video are a number of yet-to-be-released weapons, like the popular Bacta Bomb returning from the previous game. We may see some of them added to the game in The Last Jedi event, but if not, we should still expect them to show up at some point.

Unfortunately, there is no data-mined footage of Finn, so we cannot yet compare the two heroes. The footage also lacks any scenes from the event’s new multiplayer planet, Crait, which will host new maps for every multiplayer mode.

Star Wars Battlefront II‘s The Last Jedi season event begins tomorrow, December 5th, but the heroes and map won’t be added to the game until December 13th, although they will be free of charge. Battlefront II‘s first changes to its unpopular progression system have landed prior to the event, making some small but promising adjustments to the experience.
