Beenox has laid out its plans for Crash Team Racing Nitro-Fueled after the game’s launch later this month.
The game’s post-launch content will revolve around the Grand Prix, which are themed seasons of free content. During a Grand Prix, players will have to complete races and challenges to earn Nitro Points that fill up the Nitro Gauge. As the Nitro Gauge reaches certain levels, new rewards will be unlocked, including new characters, karts, skins, and more. Each Grand Prix will also feature a global leaderboard, with special in-game rewards on offer for high placing players.
The first Grand Prix begins on July 3rd and is titled the Nitro Tour Grand Prix. The Nitro Tour brings with it a new track called “Twilight Tour,” which is based on the Ancient Egypt and Arabian Town levels from Crash Bandicoot 3: Warped.
During this first Grand Prix, players will be able to earn Tawna the Bandicoot as a playable character and her Motorsport Tawna skin by filling up the Nitro Gauge. In addition, Ami, Isabella, Megumi, and Liz, otherwise known as the Nitro Squad, will be available to purchase from the Pit Stop for Wumpa Coins. Players can also earn a number of “international-themed” items, new kart parts, and the Le Chaux kart.
Finally, Beenox teased that it has a number of Grand Prix seasons planned for the game, including one that will feature Spyro the Dragon as a playable character.
