PlayStation Store reveals most-downloaded games of 2018

PlayStation has revealed the games downloaded from its store the most in 2018, and the results may surprise you.

I’m just kidding. They’re exactly what you’d expect.

Call of Duty once again took the top spot, with Black Ops 4 beating out Red Dead Redemption 2 as the most-downloaded game last year. PlayStation 4’s two big exclusives, Marvel’s Spider-Man and God of War, took third and fourth place, respectively, and Grand Theft Auto V rounded out the fifth spot. Even if Red Dead didn’t win, it was still a fantastic year for Rockstar and its two biggest series. Monster Hunter: World, meanwhile, snuck into the top 10 as the eighth-most-downloaded game in 2018.

Job Simulator retained its top spot as the most-downloaded PlayStation VR game in 2018, same as it was in 2017. Developer Owlchemy Labs’ other big game, Rick and Morty: Virtual Rick-ality, was the fifth-most-downloaded PSVR in 2018. The highly acclaimed rhythm title Beat World was the second-most-downloaded PSVR game in 2018, and Superhot VR stayed strong in third place. My personal favorite PSVR game, Moss, made the top 10 with seventh place.

As for free-to-play games, despite a strong launch, H1Z1: Battle Royale couldn’t manage to topple Fortnite, which was obviously the most-downloaded free-to-play game in 2018. Considering the game has made over a billion dollars, that’s not too surprising.
